Free and quick setup: .myshopify.com comes with Shopify and lets a store go live immediately without buying a custom domain first.

Built-in security: SSL/HTTPS is included by default, so the store is secured from the start.

Good for testing: It works well for trial orders, checkout testing, and design experiments.

Permanent admin URL: The backend login address stays stable, which is convenient for store management.

Useful for automation: Shopify’s automation features can save time, handle repetitive tasks, and support 24/7 customer communication.

Weaker branding: The .myshopify.com subdomain makes the store look less unique and less professional than a custom domain.

Lower customer trust: Some shoppers associate .myshopify.com stores with starter stores or dropshipping scams.

Worse SEO potential: Subdomains generally perform worse in search visibility than custom domains.

Lower ad click-through: An unfamiliar subdomain can reduce trust in ads and hurt clicks.

Locked-in name: The .myshopify.com address cannot be changed after signup.

Automation limits: AI and automation tools can improve efficiency, but they still need human oversight and may struggle with complex or sensitive cases.

Security/control limits at the domain level: Shopify controls the .myshopify.com hostname, so third-party security tools cannot fully sit in front of it.
